AZ, Parties & Red Bell

Well we went down to AZ and visited my folks & grandmother. We had a wonderful time, except for my back kept me from doing much. Got a little sun burn. Delays getting home, do to Denver weather. Arrived in the middle of the night to 14 degrees and a frozen car.

Since we have been home it has been party and work and rest. Still had some customer quilts to finish, but can only stand for so long before I have to rest my back.

Last week I had a quilt guild Christmas party. We had lots of wonderful food and fun. We also exchanged our friendship blocks. Only 17 of us participated. We had to make 17 blocks. I chose to make a Christmas Stocking and I embroidered their name on the cuff. Here are pictures of our blocks.

Saturday was up to Spokane for wedding prep with my d-i-l to be. Then back home to clean up and dress for my husband's company Christmas party.

Sunday I had a Christmas brunch to go to with the quilt shop I work part time for. We did a gift exchange. I tatted another bell for the employee whos name I had been given. I did this one with red thread and red and white beads.

Snowflakes, Flowers and Kleenex Things

Well I have been so busy, I have not had time to update my blog. This is the busy season for my quilting business.

Plus having a son getting married in December.
Their wedding colors are navy blue, white and silver. I embroidered out lots of snow flakes to decorate the reception area.
Then I tatted her some flowers from Linda S Davies' book "From Petals to Pearls" These will go into her and her bridesmaids bouquets. I will leave it up to her how she wants the flowers to look. The are bendable.

I am still working on her wedding hanky. Here is how her edging looks so far.
I also made a Kleenex case for the mother of the bride.

Broccoli, Teaching & Baby Quilt

What a week I had.

I tried to grow broccoli for the first time this summer. Since my husband and I and our golden retriever love it so much. Well it likes cooler weather, and this year we have 105 days. So I crew weird broccoli. Here is a picture of what I harvested off of 4 plants.

I had to wait for the thread to come in, so that I could finish quilting the Latte quilt. Finished it on Friday. While I waited, I worked on sewing projects with three young ladies. (8, 10 & 13). They wanted to sew something for the fair. I thought we could do potholders, but the girls wanted to make wall hangings. Each picked a different kind. The 8 year old was doing dimentional pinwheels. The 10 year old was working on a patriotic friendship star. The 13 year old was doing some fusible applique cats. We worked from 1-6 for three days. We had lots of fun, but the teacher was drained by the end of the day. We have three happy new quilters who will have wall hangings to enter in the fair.

I finally finished the binding on our new granddaughters quilt.

Just a quick stop into the blog to show what I have been up too.

Here is a Seahorse I finished last night.

Here are a couple of a purses I made in the last two days. I use fabric sample swatches from the lazy boy store.

This month our first granddaughter was born. Here are two pictures of my husband and I piecing it on my treadle machine. Hubby only did a couple of pieces, but it will be great for the baby book. I will post pictures of the quilt and the Kailie when I get the binding on.

Busy Couple of Months

Well I have not posted for a awhile. It has been a busy couple of months. In June, my parents took my sister, brother, and I with our spouses on an Alasken cruise. My grandmother was also on the cruise. We had a blast and it was over way to fast. This was my husband and I's first cruise. Alaska was beautiful. Here is a picture that one of the ships photographers took. Also a picture of some of the family on our 15 mile bike ride at one of our stops.

I have not done as much tatting as I would have like to. I have been busy working on Customer quilts. Here are a few pieces I have been able to get done. I am working on a quilt for our first granddaughter who was born this week. I am also working on a crochet outfit. So busy busy busy.

As of Late

Well as usual, I have been busy busy. Last weekend we had a birthday party for my father-in-law in the afternoon and then a going away for our middle son, who is leaving for the navy.

Here is a picture with my f-i-l, 2 of our kids and our d-i-l.

For mother's day, hubby had taken me to an early dinner and then we went looking at lawn and garden things. We found this beautiful plant and my husband bought it for me. I haven't killed it yet. It has the most beautiful flowers and they last over a week at a time.

I have been busy quilting and embroidering. Here is one of the towels I did for the business. I digitized their logo and am embroidering towels and a jacket.

Here is a card I finished for a wedding we have this afternoon.

This is a picture of some of the quilting I did on a my mom's quilt. She has been working on this quilt for over 5 years.

Weird Judging

OK. I don't enter alot of different fairs. I usually only enter in our fair, which is in September. A friend of mine has been working with one of the smaller fairs. They really wanted me to enter some tatting, because no one does. My friend came and picked out a few of my tatted items. First was the columbine I made last year. See picture on my webshots http://tinyurl.com/284hr2. Next was the small apricote colored doily on my blog. Then this cross and snowflake. I could not believe it when my friend gave me the results. Judges comments are as follows: Small doily pretty, did not like the cross because she does not like varigated thread, Liked the poky things coming out of the columbine flowers, and believe it or not.......the snowflake she loved and gave best of class!?!? I don't get it.

Lap Dog & Angel

Well, I had my hubby take a picture of me and Jack today. As you can see, he still thinks he is a lap dog.

I tatted an angel for my husband's cousin, who is in the hospital. We will be going to see her and wanted to give her a little something. I love angels.

This n That

Well I had a busy week last week. Lots of quilting. I updated my webshots folders. You can see some of the quilting I have been doing.

Here are a couple of small quilting projects I did. The crosses are from Patty Duffs book. I make lots of these for my dad to hand out. He is the head chaplain at a hospital in AZ. The snowflake is also from her book. I used NiteLite Glow in the dark thread and DMC 80. The glow in the dark by itself would have been too small. I want to make lots of these. They look so pretty at night.
Sparks People
A friend of mine got me started on this website. It is for weightloss, nutrician & exercise. It has lots of free recipes, exercises, menus, trackers, etc. Worth the look.

What I have been up too

Well I have busy as all get out. Quilting, quilting, quilting. I have quilted 11 quilts in the last 2 weeks. So business is doing good.

Weekends have been spent quilting, a car show, and taking #3 son car shopping. He finally found a rig last Sunday. Yah no more trips to car lots.

Daughter got qualified with her PartyLite candles, so she can sell sell sell.

I have been quilting till my hubby gets home at night. I am usually too tired to do any tatting. While car shopping I did work on my ongoing tatting project. It is a doily. Here is a picture of it so far. I am on the last round, but as you can see it is a large last round.

One of the tatters on line has a son leaving for Iraq again. The last time they sent him off with lots of tatted hearts that he passed out to the troops. They called for those who want to make them to send with him again. Last night I made one. I will try to make several more. So here is a picture.

Jack Continues To Grow!

Well Jack went to the vet for the last of his puppy shots. He weighed in at 43 pounds. The vet thinks he will be 100 or more when he is done. He still thinks his a lap dog. Loves to cuddle and play. He is doing good on walks. He grew out of his collar again, so I made him a new one. I used the left over camera fabric I made my photographer husband's pillow case from. Here is a picture of it and a picture of Jack wearing it. He loves it.
We don't have cable, so have never seen the dog whisper. Was given his website and checked into it. Neat stuff. A friend told me the library has some of his books and DVDs. Checked on the DVD People Training and his Book Cesar's Way. If you are training or have some dog issues that need to be addressed, check out his stuff. http://cesarmillaninc.com/index.php

Here are some new pictures of Jack. One of him waking up dad in the morning.

Busy Busy Busy

I have been so busy I have not had the time to add to my blog. I have been doing lots of quilting. Not much time to tat. So tired at the end of the day that I can't pick up my shuttle. Did finish a small doily the other night. It is one of Teri's patterns.

Finished a Quilts of Valor Quilt for a friend. An article about her and the QOV program. If you want more info about the QOV program, go to http://www.qovf.org/ Here is the picture I took of Sharon's Quilt before I gave it back to her. She still had to put the binding on it. The first picture is of her whole quilt. The second picture shows one of the embroidered blocks.

Also this week I had to embroider shirts and hat bands, for a customer and make his business cards.

Our puppy is growing so fast. He is now 35 pounds. His legs are getting longer. He will stay in the yards when we take him out. He has so much energy. Poor baby has suffered with me being too busy. He has let us know.

Gifts from a friend

I have such nice friends. Last week a friend had found two needle tatting books and a needle and gave them to me.

Yesterday a friend brought me gifts she had found when she was on a trip and antique shopping. She said they had my name on them. One is a antique tatting magazine. Fun fun fun! The second was an antique beaded bag. My mom had a beaded bag like that and I loved it. I have been looking at them when my husband and I have been in the antique stores. Now I have one of my own.
